The country's first modern multiplex, opened in 2004: five screens on Level 8 of Bashundhara City, including a VIP hall and a Dolby Atmos hall.
About
Star Cineplex opened here on 8 October 2004 as the first international-standard multiplex in Bangladesh, and has since grown into a chain of nine branches. Bashundhara City is still the flagship.
There are five screens. Halls 1 to 3 seat 248 each, and two of them show 3D. Hall 5 is the VIP hall, with 113 seats. Hall 6 has Dolby Atmos sound and 231 seats, and also runs 3D. Most halls mix premium seating with a row of semi-recliners.
International releases open here the same day as elsewhere in the world, alongside new Bangla films. Tickets sell online and at the counter, and the price depends on the hall, the seat class and the time of the show.
