The Bangladesh Military Museum began in 1987 at Mirpur Cantonment and moved in 2018 to its present complex at Bijoy Sarani, beside the Novo Theatre. It covers the Army, Navy and Air Force in one place.
Indoors, the galleries trace military history in this region from the ancient and Mughal periods through the Liberation War to the modern armed forces and their United Nations peacekeeping deployments, with uniforms, small arms, medals and dioramas.
Outside, tanks, guns, aircraft and naval equipment are set out on the grounds, which is what most visitors come for. Entry includes a guided tour, and staff ask visitors to leave the exhibition rooms half an hour before closing.
