A museum of the south's rivers, people and past, in the restored 1821 Collectorate building — nine galleries opened in 2015.

About

The museum occupies the old Collectorate Bhaban, built in 1821. The building was declared unsafe in 1979 and abandoned in 1984, then protected as an antiquity in 2003 and handed to the Department of Archaeology, which restored it. The museum opened on 8 June 2015.

Nine galleries hold more than 200 objects on the Barishal Division: its geography and rivers, notable people of the region, cultural heritage, folk art, and archaeological finds.

It is right in the city and takes about an hour — a good start before heading out to Durgasagar or Chakhar.
