The beach runs about 120 km south from Cox's Bazar town towards Teknaf, which makes it the longest natural sea beach in Asia. Most visitors stay near the town, where the shore is divided into named points.
Kolatoli is the hotel and restaurant end. Sugandha Point has the Burmese market. Laboni Point is where the crowds gather for horse rides and speedboats, and for the sunset. Further south, Inani is an 18 km stretch scattered with coral stones, and the coast road that runs on to Teknaf — the Marine Drive — is a trip in itself.
The sea here is not gentle. At ebb tide parts of the shore turn to quicksand, and people drown every year. Swim only where lifeguards are on duty, and stay out of the water when the tide is going out.
