Sher-e-Bangla Memorial Museum

Chakhar, Banaripara, Barishal Tuesday – Saturday: Daytime — times vary by season, check locally

A small museum on A. K. Fazlul Huq's family homestead at Chakhar: his photographs, letters, furniture and the story of his career.

About

A. K. Fazlul Huq, Sher-e-Bangla, Prime Minister of undivided Bengal and author of the Lahore Resolution, came from Chakhar in Banaripara. The Department of Archaeology built this museum on part of his homestead in 1982, and it opened in 1983.

Two galleries show rare photographs, letters, newspaper cuttings on his career and his own furniture — an armchair and a wooden bed among them. A library and the department's office share the building.

Chakhar is about 20 km north-west of Barishal city; the trip combines easily with Guthia Mosque, which is on the way.
