Mymensingh's riverside park on the Old Brahmaputra: shaded walks, boats across to the char and a sunset view the painter Zainul Abedin made famous.

About

The park along the Old Brahmaputra, named after Zainul Abedin, is the city's favourite place to walk in the evening. Shaded paths follow the bank, and families, students and couples fill it towards sunset.

Boatmen ferry people across to the sandbanks and the far bank, and tea and snack stalls line the paths. The Zainul Abedin museum stands at the edge of the park.

The river is much lower in the dry season, when the char spreads out; in the monsoon the water comes right up to the bank.
