Padma Riverfront (Padma Garden & T-Badh)

Padma riverbank, Rajshahi Every day: Open all day; best at sunset

Rajshahi's evening promenade along the Padma: walkways, lawns and food stalls, boats out to the river islands, and wide sunsets.

About

The embankment along the Padma is where Rajshahi goes to watch the sun go down. Padma Garden has paths, lawns, sculptures and fountains; further along, T-Badh — named after its T-shaped spur — juts out into the river and gives the widest views.

In the evening the walkways fill with families and students, and vendors sell tea and street food. Boatmen take visitors out to the sandbanks and islands in the river. Weekday evenings are calmer than weekends.

Not every stretch of the bank is a built promenade, so keep away from crumbling edges, especially after dark.
