The open-air stage on Dhanmondi Lake: dawn choirs on Pohela Boishakh, monsoon festivals, and free-standing crowds in the thousands.
Rabindra Sarobar is the open-air amphitheatre on the bank of Dhanmondi Lake, and one of the busiest outdoor stages in the city.
Its calendar follows the Bangla year. On Pohela Boishakh, Hajar Kanthe Barshabaran fills it at dawn with hundreds of voices singing in the new year; in July the Barsha Mangal festival greets the monsoon with song, dance and recitation. Between those come band concerts, film-launch shows and cultural evenings — a December 2025 concert drew more than 13,000 people.
Being open-air and lakeside, it is at its best in the cool of the evening and the early morning; on festival days, come early for a place on the steps.
