A peaceful Commonwealth war cemetery on the hills by Cumilla Cantonment, where 736 soldiers of the Second World War lie.

About

The cemetery holds the graves of 736 Commonwealth servicemen of the Second World War, most of whom died in Cumilla's military hospitals during the Burma campaign. They came from across the Commonwealth; a few Japanese prisoners of war are buried here too. Locals call it the "English graveyard".

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission keeps it immaculate: neat rows of headstones on a terraced hillside, shaded by trees. Every November, Commonwealth diplomats come to lay wreaths on Remembrance Sunday.

It is about 9 km from Cumilla city, near the cantonment. A place of remembrance — keep it quiet.
