The excavated remains of a hilltop palace credited to the Chandra kings, which gave Mainamati its name — with a month-long fair every Baishakh.

About

On a low hill near Mainamati Saheb Bazar lie the brick remains of a palace said to have been built by King Manik Chandra of the Chandra dynasty for his queen, Mainamati, sometime between the 8th and 12th centuries. Excavation from 1988 uncovered its walls and buildings.

From the 7th of Baishakh each year, a month-long fair is held here, drawing crowds from the surrounding villages.

It is about 3 km east of the War Cemetery on the Cumilla–Sylhet highway, so the two are easily seen together.
